Attar is concentrated. A single drop contains more fragrance than several sprays of a typical perfume. Applying it correctly helps you get the best performance and avoids wasting product.
Use pulse points
Apply attar to the wrists, sides of the neck, behind the ears and the inner elbows. These areas generate warmth, which helps the oil release its scent gradually.
Start with less
Begin with one small drop on each wrist. You can always add more later, but you cannot take it back once it is on your skin. Attar develops over time, so wait before reapplying.
Do not rub
Rubbing attar into your skin heats it too quickly and can distort the scent. Dab it on and let it settle naturally.
Apply to moisturised skin
Fragrance oil lasts longer on hydrated skin. If your skin is dry, apply an unscented moisturiser or a light carrier oil a few minutes before the attar.
Layer carefully
You can layer attars to create a custom scent, but keep combinations simple. Start with one base note like oud or amber, then add a small touch of floral or spice. Too many layers become muddy.
Store your attar well
Keep attar in a cool, dark place with the cap tight. Heat and sunlight break down the oil and change the scent over time.
Attar rewards patience. Apply less, wait longer, and let the scent do the work.
